As a kid I loved nothing more than collecting stickers — puffy stickers, scratch and sniff stickers, fuzzy stickers, you name it. I would categorize them in those old-school photo books with the plastic sleeves and sticky glue pages and carefully trade them with my friends.
Fast forward to today, and any Gen Alpha would consider a sticker collection to be “sus,” and at the very least, “cringe.” Nowadays it’s all about the skincare! Enter Starface, the pimple popping patches that tweens are going wild for these days. In 2023, Forbes magazine even dubbed the brand as the “the best patches for deep pimples.,” aka., the sigma of acne patches.
Back when I was a tween my skincare routine consisted of, 1) Wash my skin with Neutrogena face wash, 2) Slab some of my mom’s Nivea cream all over my face, 3) Let it dry and then stick a Biore acne strop on the tip of my nose while lying on my bed reading teen magazines for an hour or so. Then I would slowly remove the strip and admire the little white and blackheads that came to the surface. Pure satisfaction. But never in my wildest dreams would I have wanted any friend so see me in that state or worse, give them a strip to trade it with some other skincare product! These things were simply meant for the privacy of your bedroom. Period.
Nowadays, there’s no more stigma of putting one of these suckers on the tip of your nose, and it’s even cool to swap them and wear them around the house while your friends are over.
